On April 12, 2022, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to US HWY 220 BUS N. in reference to a welfare check on a female and child in a vehicle in the parking lot of the business. Randolph County EMS also responded for evaluation. During the investigation, a consensual search was conducted where methamphetamine, heroin and paraphernalia were located. Tassie Mary Ellen Merchant was arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where the magistrate found probable cause for the charges of Felony Possession of Methamphetamine, Felony Possession of Heroin, Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Misdemeanor Child Abuse. She was issued a $2,500 secured bond and a first appearance was set for April 12, 2022, in Randolph County District Court.
