On February 24, 2022, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Sex Offender Registry Detective received information that Thomas Lee Simmons was no longer at the address he had given and had failed to report a change of address as required by law. During the investigation, it was also discovered that Simmons had submitted, under false pretenses, a registration address located in Randolph County when he was actually renting property in Davidson County, which is a violation of the program. A felony warrant was issued for his arrest for two counts of felony failure to report a new address.
On March 25, 2022, Simmons turned himself in at the Randolph County Detention Center. He was issued a $5,000 secured bond and a first appearance was set for March 28, 2022, in Randolph County District Court
