On January 11, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division responded to the Beckerdite Road area, Sophia, in reference to a tip regarding suspicious activity. While canvassing the area, detectives encountered two individuals on an ATV trail riding a four-wheeler. When the detectives encountered the four-wheeler, the white male operating the ATV turned around and sped away after being told to stop. Patrol deputies and additional detectives responded to the area of Plott Hound Trail, which was the direction of travel the two individuals fled. Through the investigative process, the two individuals were identified as Johnathan Bryan Henderson and Amanda Danielle Zimmerman.
The following day, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle and located Zimmerman, who also had an additional outstanding order for arrest and a warrant for arrest. Subsequently, Patrol and the Urban Interdiction Team located Johnathan Henderson, who also had an outstanding Order for Arrest, hiding in a home in the area with David Allen Atkinson.
The Criminal Investigations Division responded to the location of the arrest and recovered several stolen items found in the possession of Zimmerman and Henderson. Both subjects were transported to Randolph County Detention Center and served with their outstanding processes. They are also charged with resist/obstruct/delay a public officer. A first appearance was held on January 13, 2023, in Randolph County District Court for these charges.
Following the investigation, the Criminal Investigations Division swore out additional charges on January 13, 2023, on Zimmerman and Henderson for felony breaking and/or entering, felony larceny after break/enter, and felony possession of stolen goods. Detectives also sought charges for Atkinson for misdemeanor aid and abet larceny and two counts of felony harboring a fugitive. The magistrate found probable cause for the charges.
On January 13, 2023, Johnathan Henderson was served with his warrants and given a $10,000 secured bond.
On January 15, 2023, Amanda Zimmerman was served with her warrants and given a $25,000 secured bond.
On January 15, 2023, David Atkinson was served with his warrants and given a $25,000 secured bond.
In the process of this investigation, detectives were able to find evidence to charge Henderson with additional charges of misdemeanor larceny and felony obtaining property by false pretense from a prior incident. Those warrants were served with the others and were included in the $10,000 secured bond.
A first appearance was set for January 17, 2023, in Randolph County District Court.
