On December 9, 2022, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to the intersection of Cedar Falls Rd. and Poole Rd. in reference to an unconscious person behind the wheel of a car sitting in the roadway. Upon arrival, the driver, who was later identified as Brandon William Moser, was slumped over in the vehicle, which was still running. The widow was down about halfway and the deputy was able to reach into the vehicle and roll the window down fully, and reach across the steering column to turn off the vehicle. The odor of an alcoholic beverage was coming from within the vehicle. When the vehicle shut off, Moser woke up and was asked to step out. The NC State Highway Patrol (NCSHP) responded to determine if Moser was intoxicated. He was detained for their arrival. During a subsequent search of the vehicle, heroin, marijuana, and paraphernalia were located.
The NCSHP arrived and determined that Moser was under the influence of an impairing substance and took custody of Moser and charged him with DUI and transported him to the Randolph County Detention Center.
The deputy then went before the magistrate and secured a warrant for Mr. Moser for the charges or felony possession of heroin, misdemeanor possession of marijuana, and misdemeanor possession of paraphernalia. Moser had bonded out prior to service of this warrant.
On January 5, 2023, Moser was located in Guilford County, arrested and transported to the Guilford County Detention Center where he was served the outstanding warrant from Randolph County. He was issued a $5,000 secured bond and a first appearance was set for February 6, 2023, in Randolph County District Court.
