On November 9, 2022, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Power Line Rd. in reference to a possible suicide attempt reported. Upon arrival, neighbors in the area reported hearing gunshots from the residence. Deputies were able to locate Richard Alexander McFarlane and a juvenile inside the residence; along with firearms, ammunition and spent casings. The interior of the residence had sustained damage from the firing of a weapon. McFarlane was arrested without incident and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where the magistrate found probable cause for charges of Felony Discharge Firearm into an Occupied Dwelling and Misdemeanor Child Abuse. He was issued a $10,000 secured bond and a first appearance was set for November 10, 2022, in Randolph County District Court.
The juvenile was transported to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office where DSS and deputies awaited a relative.
