On October 5, 2022, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to John Glenn Rd., Sophia, in reference to a breaking/entering and theft. Upon arrival, the caller reported items taken and gave information on a possible location of the stolen property. The deputy contacted a detective with the Criminal Interdiction Team and responded to the address given on US Hwy 311.
Upon arrival, the detective located the stolen property and made contact with the resident who stated he purchased the property from Timothy Shane Haney and Robert Michael Dzumba, II. The victim was able to provide a description of the vehicle they were traveling in at that time. The items were then turned over to the original owner.
Additional deputies from the Criminal Interdiction Team went to the address where Haney was believed to be staying. Upon arrival, they observed the vehicle in the driveway matching the description they had been given by the victim on US Hwy 311. Haney and Dzumba were both located by the detective. During a subsequent search, Dzumba was found to be in possession of Methamphetamine. Haney and Dzumba were arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where the magistrate found probable cause for charges of Felony Breaking and Entering and Felony Larceny against both subjects. Dzumba was additionally charged for Felony Possession of Methamphetamine. The magistrate issued a $5,000 secured bond for each and a first appearance was set for October 7, 2022, in Randolph County District Court.
