On August 10, 2022, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Fairview Farm Rd., Asheboro, in reference to a welfare check. While in route, Communications advised deputies that a subject at the residence, Charles Nicholas Doss, had three outstanding orders for arrest and also was wanted out of the state of Virginia for felony grand larceny with full extradition. Upon arrival, Doss was observed outside arguing with a female but fled into the residence. Deputies entered and were able to detained him while the welfare of the other subjects at the residence was being investigated. Following the investigation, Doss was placed under arrest on the outstanding orders and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where the magistrate found probable cause for additional charges of two counts of misdemeanor assault on a female, resisting a public officer and one first degree trespassing. Doss was given a $48,000 secured bond on the orders for arrest and was not given a bond on the additional charges due to being domestic in nature. A first appearance was set for August 11, 2022, in Randolph County District Court.
On August 12, 2022, the fugitive warrant out of Virginia for felony grand larceny was served after making contact with the charging county. He received an additional $50,000 secured bond and a first appearance was held the same day.
