On March 29, 2022, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a possible sex offense upon a minor. Following an investigation of the allegations, Criminal Investigation Detectives sought charges against William Ray Hodges for two counts of felony indecent liberties with a child, and the magistrate found probable cause to issue a warrant for arrest.
On February 10, 2026, the Criminal Apprehension Team was notified that Hodges was incarcerated in Orange County Jail in Orlando, Florida. Transportation arrangements were coordinated with the North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections for the extradition back to Randolph County. Hodges arrived at the Randolph County Detention Center on February 19, 2026. He was taken before a magistrate, who issued a first appearance for February 20, 2026, and no bond was set at this time due to the nature of the charges.
