On September 23, 2025, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to the I-74 westbound exit ramp at Cedar Square Road in reference to an agency assist request from the North Carolina State Highway Patrol (NCSHP).
Upon arrival, NCSHP had already placed the driver, identified as John Joshua Timmons, under arrest and secured him in their patrol vehicle. It was further determined that John had active Orders for Arrest (OFA) from two jurisdictions.
During a subsequent search, illegal substances, paraphernalia, and firearms were located. The passenger, identified as Angela Renee Timmons, was also placed under arrest. They were transported to the Randolph County Detention Center and taken before the magistrate.
Probable cause was established for the following charges against John, and the magistrate issued no bond due to being out on pretrial release:
* Felony Possession of a Firearm by a Felon
* Felony Possession of Schedule II Controlled Substance
* Felony Maintaining a Vehicle/Dwelling/Place for Controlled Substances
* Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
* Misdemeanor Carrying a Concealed Weapon
He was also served his Orders for Arrest (OFA) and issued bonds as follows:
* Yadkin County: DWLR, $1,000 secured bond
* Surry County: DWLR, $500 secured bond
The magistrate found probable cause for the charges against Angela Timmons as follows:
* Felony Possession of Schedule II Controlled Substance
* Felony Maintaining a Vehicle/Dwelling/Place for Controlled Substances
* Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
* Misdemeanor Carrying a Concealed Weapon
She was issued a $5,000 secured bond.
A first appearance was set for September 24, 2025, in Randolph County District Court for both individuals.
NCSHP charged John Joshua Timmons with DWI and related traffic offenses.
