On August 14, 2025, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Interdiction Team Urban Unit responded to Troy Caveness Rd, Ramseur, to conduct a follow-up investigation and attempted to locate two individuals for questioning regarding an on-going investigation. Joseph Daniel Speight and Loni Elizabeth Torres each had outstanding felony warrants for arrest out of Chatham County, along with an order for arrest for felony probation violation. Speight was located at the residence and began to flee on foot. Speight was apprehended and placed into custody. During the search incident to arrest, methamphetamine was located. Torres was located hiding in a barn on the property, and she was placed into custody.
Joseph Daniel Speight and Loni Elizabeth Torres were both transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where they were served with their outstanding processes.
Speight was also charged with felony possession of methamphetamine and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, in which he received no bond. He also received no bond on the outstanding processes from Chatham County, due to having pending criminal charges, and a pre-set $100,000 secured bond from the felony probation violation. His first appearance was set for August 15, 2025, in Randolph County District Court for the Randolph County charges.
Torres received no bond on the outstanding processes from Chatham County, due to having pending criminal charges, and a pre-set $2,000 secured bond on the felony probation violation.
