On July 18, 2025, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to an agency assist at the request of NC Probation and Parole on Plainfield Rd., Sophia, in reference to locating illegal substances and paraphernalia while serving a probation warrant. William Ray Carpenter, Jr. was arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where the magistrate found probable cause for felony possession of methamphetamine, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, and misdemeanor possession of marijuana up to 1/2 oz. He received a $15,000 secured bond, and a first appearance was set for July 21, 2025, in Randolph County District Court.
He was also served a Civil order for arrest for non-support and received a $2,000 cash bond.
