On June 13, 2025, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Crystal Wood Rd, Asheboro, in reference to a vehicle theft.
Upon arrival, the victim reported that a verbal argument turned physical. Following the assault, Chaz Dominique Alston left the residence and took the victim’s vehicle. During the investigation, the vehicle was returned to the end of the driveway, and Alston fled. Additional deputies, along with an Asheboro Police Department K9 unit, responded to the incident but were unsuccessful in finding Alston in the wooded area.
Charges were sought against Alston for felony assault inflicting serious bodily injury, and the magistrate found probable cause and issued a warrant for arrest.
On June 23, 2025, Alston turned himself in to the Randolph County Detention Center, where he was served his warrant for arrest. He was not granted a bond. A first appearance was scheduled for June 24, 2025, in Randolph County District Court.
He was also served a misdemeanor probation violation out of Chatham County with a $1,000 secured bond.
