April 2, 2025, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Shady Grove Church Rd., Staley, regarding a larceny of a four-wheeler that had already occurred.
An investigation was conducted by the Criminal Interdiction Team (CIT) Urban Unit and suspects were developed. The four-wheeler was located in the possession of Anderson Stewart Townsend, who had been arrested in Chatham County on an Order for Arrest out of Randolph County on April 3, 2025. A search warrant was obtained and executed by CIT Detectives on April 7, 2025, at Chatham County Sheriff's Office Secure Holding Lot where pieces matching the same stolen four-wheeler were located in the back of Townsend's vehicle.
An additional search warrant was issued on Townsend’s phone. Following the investigation, charges were sought against Townsend for felony larceny and the magistrate found probable cause to issue a warrant for arrest.
Charges were also sought on Aaron Steven Coble for felony larceny and felony possession of stolen goods. On April 9, 2025, Coble was located, arrested, and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where he was served the warrant and issued no bond. A first appearance was set for April 10, 2025, in Randolph County District Court.
On April 10, 2025, Townsend, who had been released on bond, was located in Chatham County, arrested, and transported to the Chatham County Detention Center where he was served this associated warrant and was issued no bond. A court date was set for May 5, 2025, in Randolph County District Court.
