On November 21, 2024, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office received information of a possible sex offense upon a minor.
Following an investigation of the allegations by the Criminal Investigations Division, charges were sought against James Jerome Prewitt, Jr., on March 26, 2025, for felony indecent liberties with a child and misdemeanor sexual battery relative to that report. The magistrate found probable cause to issue a warrant.
On March 27, 2025, Prewitt was located, arrested, and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where he was served his warrant. He was issued a $50,000 secured bond and a first appearance was set for March 28, 2025, in Randolph County District Court.
