On March 2, 2025, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Piedmont Estates Road and North Carolina Highway 22 N. Upon approach, the driver was identified as Isaiah Luke Overly, who did not possess a valid driver's license and was prohibited from operating a motor vehicle. NC State Highway Patrol responded for a potential impaired driver investigation, due to the deputy's observation of Overly exhibiting impaired judgment. At the completion of the DUI investigation, the Trooper subsequently placed Overly under arrest.
During the inventory of the vehicle for towing, narcotics and paraphernalia were located. Charges were sought for felony possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver Schedule II controlled substance, felony possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver Schedule IV controlled substance, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. The magistrate found probable cause for the charges and issued a $2,500 secured bond. A first appearance was set for March 7, 2025, in Randolph County District Court.
