On December 23, 2024, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Post Road in Thomasville in reference to a reported breaking and entering in progress. Upon arrival, the resident confirmed the address and stated that he was unaware of any break-in. While checking with other individuals located in the residence, illegal narcotics were observed and two subjects were arrested for the possession of the illicit substances. They were identified as Joseph David Peace and Savannah Ellyn McLeod, who initially gave false names. A wallet was located that contained cards not associated with either individual. The owner of the social security card was contacted and expressed the desire to pursue charges.
Peace and McLeod were transported to the Randolph County Detention Center and taken before the magistrate. The magistrate found probable cause for the charges as follows:
Peace: Felony Possession of Methamphetamine, Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana, Misdemeanor Larceny, and Misdemeanor Resisting a Public Officer. He was issued no bond due to being out on pre-trial release already. He was also served his four outstanding Orders for Arrest (two in Randolph and three out of Guilford for failure to appear). He was issued a $86,000 total secured bond on those.
McLeod: Felony Possession of Methamphetamine, Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana, and Misdemeanor Resisting a Public Officer. She was issued no bond due to also being out on pre-trial release.
