On December 8, 2024, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Fairview Church Rd., Trinity, in reference to a suspicious vehicle. Upon arrival, a male subject, later identified as Richard Burton James, was out with the vehicle. During the investigation, it was determined that the vehicle had been stolen and deputies also located methamphetamine. James was arrested and transported to Randolph County Detention Center where the magistrate found probable cause for Felony Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle, Felony Possession of Schedule II Controlled Substance, and Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was not given a bond due to already being out on pre-trial release. A first appearance was set for December 9, 2024, in Randolph County District Court.
