On June 25, 2024, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Archdale Rd., Trinity, in reference to the theft of a motor vehicle and its contents.. During this investigation, the Criminal Investigations Division Detectives discovered that the vehicle had been scrapped by William David Butler. Charges were sought against William David Butler for felony obtain property by false pretense, misdemeanor larceny of motor vehicle, and misdemeanor possession of stolen goods/property. The magistrate found probable cause to issue a warrant for arrest.
On August 1, 2024, Butler was located, arrested, and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where he was served his warrant.. He was issued a $5,000 secured bond and a first appearance was set for August 2, 2024, in Randolph County District Court.
