Shortly after 8:00 am on July 19, 2024, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to a fatal shooting on Pisgah Rd. in Asheboro. Upon arrival, deputies located a victim, identified as Daniel John Jarrell, with gunshot wounds. The suspect was still on scene and identified as Joshua Eric Sanders. Jarrell and Sanders lived in the same residence.
Following the investigation by the Criminal Investigations Division Detectives, Sanders was arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where the magistrate found probable cause for felony first-degree murder. He was denied bond and a first appearance was set for July 22, 2024, in Randolph County District Court.
