On June 19, 2024, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Grantville Lane, Asheboro, in reference to an assault. Upon arrival, the victim was located and had visible injuries. The assailant was identified as Ronald Lepere Davis, who had left prior to law enforcement's arrival. Evidence was collected in the investigation.
Following an investigation, charges were sought against Davis for felony first-degree kidnapping and felony assault inflicting serious bodily injury, misdemeanor assault on a female, misdemeanor assault by pointing a gun, misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon, and misdemeanor communicating threats.
On July 1, 2024, Davis surrendered himself in Guilford County where he was placed under arrest and served the outstanding warrants. The magistrate denied bond due to the charges being domestic in nature. A first appearance was set for July 22, 2023, in Randolph County District Court.
