On April 1, 2024, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call regarding the larceny of a utility vehicle in the Gray Owl Rd. area of Asheboro.
On April 2, 2024, the Urban Interdiction Team received information on a possible suspect, identified as Thomas Zachary Hall, while following up on this investigation. Detectives located Hall at a residence on Scaleybark Ln. in Asheboro, where he was arrested on an outstanding order for arrest.
Following the investigation into the April 1 larceny, Hall was transported to Randolph County Detention Center where the magistrate found probable cause for the charges of felony breaking and entering, felony larceny, felony possession stolen goods/property, and misdemeanor resisting public officer. He received a $20,000 secured bond with a first appearance set for April 3, 2024, in Randolph County District Court. He was also served his outstanding order for arrest for felony probation violation and received a $200,000 secured bond with a court date scheduled for April 8, 2024, in Randolph County Superior Court.
The stolen UTV was recovered along the US Hwy 64 Bypass in a wooded area and returned to the owner.
