On February 7, 2024, the Randolph County Sheriff's Office responded to Sink Farm Rd., Thomasville, in reference to a reported fraud.
Following an investigation by the Criminal Investigation Division Detective, charges were sought against Steffiany Michele Vernon for felony financial card theft, nine counts of felony identity theft, and nine counts of misdemeanor financial card fraud and the magistrate found probable cause to issue a warrant for arrest.
On February 27, 2024, Vernon, a current inmate at the Guilford County Detention Center, was served her outstanding warrants. The magistrate denied bond. A first appearance was set for April 1, 2024, in Randolph County District Court.
