On February 6, 2024, the Randolph County Criminal Apprehension Team located Stuart Alfred Hampton, a registered sex offender and fugitive from justice, at a residence on Rosemary Dr. in Asheboro, NC. Hampton was wanted for charges of felony failure to register as a sex offender and failure to appear out of West Virginia. He was arrested without incident and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where the magistrate found probable cause and was served with a felony fugitive warrant. He issued a $250,000 secured bond and an extradition hearing was set for February 14, 2024, in Randolph County District Court.
