On December 20, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to a citizen assist at Meadowbrook Rd., Asheboro, where it was reported that a citizen had been followed by a vehicle flashing blue and red lights that was not believed to be a law enforcement vehicle. The caller reported the vehicle turned into a church parking lot. Deputies located the vehicle and identified the driver as Dennis Charles Richardson. Deputies determined the vehicle was privately owned and Richardson is not a law enforcement officer. He was therefore placed under arrest and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where the magistrate found probable cause for felony operate vehicle with blue light and felony blue light cause stop/yield. He was issued a $10,000 unsecured bond and was given a court date for December 22, 2023, in Randolph County District Court
