On November 26, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported robbery of a victim on NC Hwy 134, Asheboro. The victim reported that he was asked to meet in the parking lot of the business by a person known to the victim, and upon his arrival he was robbed by two males and two females. The victim reported that one of the male suspects fired a single round from a handgun at the victim during the robbery. During the subsequent investigation by the Criminal Investigations Division, detectives identified Cassidy Ann Black, and Dustin Scott Marion as suspects. Charges were sought for felony robbery with a dangerous weapon and the magistrate found probable cause to issue arrest warrants.
With the assistance from the NCSBI and Lee County Sheriff’s Office, Cassidy Black and Dustin Marion were apprehended in Lee County on November 27, 2023, and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center and served their warrants. Black received a $200,000 secured bond and Marion received a $250,000 secured bond. A first appearance was held on December 19, 2023, in Randolph County District Court.
As the investigation continued, Brittany Alee Hoskins and David Kyle Bennett were identified as the final two suspects who were subsequently charged with felony robbery with a dangerous weapon. David Kyle Bennett was also charged with felony assault with a dangerous weapon with intent to kill.
Brittany Alee Hoskins was apprehended in Randleman by the Criminal Investigations Division on November 28, 2023. No bond was given due to the Pre-Trial Integrity Act and a first appearance was set for November 29, 2023, in Randolph County District Court.
David Kyle Bennett turned himself into the Randolph County Detention Center on December 2, 2023. No bond was given due to the Pre-Trial Integrity Act and a first appearance was set for December 4, 2023, in Randolph County District Court.
