On August 29, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Shelton County Rd. in reference to an assault. Upon arrival, the victim reported being assaulted by Michael James Brown. Two witnesses on scene, reported physically intervening and forcing Brown to leave the property.
Charges were sought against Brown for felony assault by strangulation and misdemeanor assault on a female. Due to Mr. Brown's address being in the jurisdiction of Greensboro Police Department, they were contacted for assistance to check his residence. A short time later, they notified Randolph County that they had Mr. Brown in custody. He was picked up from the Greensboro Police Department and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where he was served the warrant and issued a $5,000 secured bond. A first appearance was set for August 30, 2023, in Randolph County District Court.
