On August 8, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Branson Mill Rd., Asheboro, in reference to a report of a family fight; however, upon arrival, deputies discovered there was no evidence that a fight had occurred. After further investigation, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office had nine previous responses to this residence within the last month involving Crystal Elizabeth Hunt, who had been arrested once and also cited for misuse of 911. Subsequently, Hunt was placed under arrest for misuse of 911. During transport, Hunt became combative and the deputies had to stop multiple times to subdue her which resulted in her assaulting the deputies. Upon arrival at the Randolph County Detention Center, she was taken before the magistrate who found probable cause for felony assault on a law enforcement officer inflicting physical injury, misdemeanor misuse of 911 and misdemeanor resisting a public officer. She was issued a $1,100 total secured bond and a first appearance was set for August 9, 2023, in Randolph County District Court.
