On July 18, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Grantville Ln., Asheboro, in reference to a domestic assault. Upon arrival, the victim was located with injuries and an investigation was conducted. Evidence of the assault and a struggle inside the residence were collected. The victim advised she had arrived to pick up her juvenile children, when Clyde Jaron Norwood, III, assaulted her. She was able to get away and he left the area, with the child, prior to law enforcement arrival.
Following the investigation, warrants were sought for the charges of felony assault by strangulation and misdemeanor assault on a female for Clyde Norwood III, and probable cause was found by the magistrate.
On July 19, 2023, Norwood was located in Guilford County. He was arrested and transported to the Guilford County Detention Center where he was served the warrant. Bond was denied due the charges being domestic in nature. A court date was set for September 1, 2023, in Randolph County District Court.
