On July 6, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Interdiction Team initiated a traffic stop on US 220 S. in Asheboro. Upon approach to the vehicle, the driver was identified as Edward Glenn Brigman, who was determined to have and outstanding order for arrest for Failure to Appear on a Driving while License Revoked and was placed under arrest. The passengers were identified as Stevie Allen Welch and Justin Lee Kindley. After further investigation, a search was conducted. Welch and Kindley were found to be in possession of methamphetamine and they were also placed under arrest.
All were transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where the magistrate found probable cause for Possession of Methamphetamine for both Welch and Kindley. Welch and Kindley both received a $1,000 secured bond and Brigman was issued a $2,000 secured bond for his order for arrest.
A first appearance was set for July 10, 2023, in Randolph County District Court.
