On June 20, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to a citizen assist call for service on US 311 near Cedar Square Rd., Archdale, to have a vehicle removed from the property. During an inventory of the vehicle, illegal narcotics and paraphernalia were located. During the investigation, it was determined that the items belonged to Michael Devon Shipwash, who had been a passenger in the vehicle and walked away during a separate investigation earlier. Charges were sought against Shipwash and the magistrate found probable cause to issue a warrant for felony possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver methamphetamine, two counts trafficking methamphetamine, felony maintain vehicle/dwelling/place for controlled substance, four counts of misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
On June 22, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Eastward Ave. in reference to Shipwash trespassing on the property. Upon arrival, deputies located Shipwash asleep in a vehicle. He was placed under arrest for several outstanding warrants. Upon a search incident to arrest, deputies located marijuana in his possession. Shipwash was arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where the magistrate found probable cause for the misdemeanor possession of marijuana. He was served his outstanding warrants, order for arrest and a criminal summons. Shipwash received a total secured bond of $211,000 and a first appearance was set for June 26, 2023, in Randolph County District Court.
