On June 16, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of Foxfire Rd., Asheboro, in reference to a road rage incident. As the deputy reached the Foxfire Rd./Kindley Farm Rd. intersection, he observed a vehicle matching the description given, make an abrupt turn on Kindley Farm Rd. The responding deputy followed the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. The vehicle rapidly accelerated and continued down Kindley Farm Road and a vehicle pursuit ensued. The driver continued on Kindley Farm Rd. for approximately 1/3 of a mile before the driver abruptly applied the brakes and pulled the vehicle to the right side of the roadway. The driver was identified as Jacob Austin Cabrera.
During a subsequent search of the vehicle, US currency, marijuana, paraphernalia and methamphetamine were located. Cabrera was arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where the magistrate found probable cause for felony possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver schedule II controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, drive left of center, and reckless driving. He was issued a $2,500 secure bond and a first appearance was set for June 19, 2023, in Randolph County District Court.
