On June 13, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to the intersection of Meadowlands & Pisgah Cover Bridge Rd., Asheboro, in reference to a drug violation reported by Probation & Parole. The probation officer was conducting a check on a parolee, who was a passenger in a vehicle in which Amy Ledwell Rivera was driving. She was listed as the owner of the vehicle. During a consensual search by the probation officer, methamphetamine and paraphernalia were located in her possession.
As a result of the deputy’s investigation, it was determined that the articles of contraband located in the vehicle belonged to Rivera. She was subsequently placed under arrest for possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. She was transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where the magistrate found probable cause for felony possession of methamphetamine and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. A $1,000 secured bond was issued and first appearance was set for June 14, 2023, in Randolph County District Court.
