On May 13, 2023, a Randolph County Sheriff’s Deputy conducted a traffic stop on US Hwy 64 E., Asheboro. The driver stated that he did not have a license or any identification but the deputy was able to confirm the driver's identity to be Anthony Jykheen Vaughters. During a subsequent search, marijuana and methamphetamine were located. Vaughters was placed under arrest and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where the magistrate found probable cause for the charges of felony possession of methamphetamine and misdemeanor possession of marijuana up to ½ oz. He was issued a 5,000 secured bond and a first appearance was set for May 15, 2023, in Randolph County District Court.
