On February 22, 2026, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Burgess Kivett Rd., Ramseur, in reference to a fight in progress.
Upon arrival, deputies made contact with the victim, who had visible injuries, and the assailant, identified as William Keith Burgess. Following the investigation, Burgess was arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where the magistrate found probable cause for the charges of felony assault by strangulation, misdemeanor assault on a female, misdemeanor assault by pointing a gun, misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon, misdemeanor crime of domestic violence, misdemeanor communicating threats and misdemeanor injury to personal property. Burgess was given no bond, placed on a domestic violence hold, and was scheduled to appear before a judge on February 23, 2026, in Randolph County District Court.
