On February 10, 2026, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on NC HWY 22 N. near Benny Lineberry Rd., Climax. The driver, identified as Quentin Garrett Elder, had a suspended driver’s license and an active order for arrest out of Guilford County. He was placed under arrest without incident. During a search to arrest, paraphernalia was located.
During a subsequent search of the vehicle, illegal substances and additional paraphernalia were located.
Elder was transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where he was served his outstanding order for arrest out of Guilford County. The magistrate found probable cause for felony possession of cocaine, felony possession of marijuana, felony possession with intent to sell/deliver marijuana, misdemeanor possession of marijuana paraphernalia, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while license revoked, misdemeanor expired registration card/tag, and expired/no inspection. He was issued a $15,000 secured bond for the new charges and a preset $500 bond on the outstanding process. A first appearance was set for February 11, 2026.
