On October 18, 2025, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Foxfire Rd., Asheboro, in reference to a possible burglary by three suspects. Upon arrival, deputies observed property damage and spoke with the victim and witnesses. They were able to provide a description of the vehicle and additional evidence for the investigation. The driver of the vehicle was later identified as Rodney Lee Trivette, II.
While deputies were interviewing witnesses, they received a report that two of the suspects were nearby. They responded and apprehended one juvenile suspect. The other suspect fled through a nearby wooded area. Subsequent investigation revealed that the second suspect was also a juvenile.
A short time later, Randolph Communications advised that the Davidson County Sheriff's Office and Thomasville Police Department had located the suspect vehicle and Trivette at Lower Lake Road in Thomasville. Deputies responded to the location for further questioning.
K9 Rico was deployed at the residence on Foxfire Rd. to conduct an article search of the area and located items hidden in the barn.
On October 20, 2025, charges were sought against Trivette for felony breaking and/or entering, felony larceny of a firearm, felony larceny after break/enter, felony possession of a stolen firearm, felony possession of stolen goods/property, misdemeanor injury to personal property, and two counts of misdemeanor contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.
On October 27, Trivette was arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where he was served his warrant. The magistrate issued no bond, and a first appearance was set for October 28, 2025, in Randolph County District Court.
A juvenile petition was sought and served against the two juveniles in this case for felony breaking and/or entering, three counts of felony larceny of a firearm, felony larceny after break/enter, felony possession of a stolen firearm, felony possession of stolen goods/property, misdemeanor injury to personal property. They have a first appearance on November 17, 2025, in juvenile court.
