On September 13, 2025, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to US Hwy 220 Bus. S., Asheboro, in reference to a fight in progress. Upon arrival, deputies located the victim with visible injuries, and the suspect, Martavius Lemar Drake, was taken into custody.
Drake was transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where the magistrate found probable cause for felony assault by strangulation, two counts of misdemeanor assault on a female, and three counts of misdemeanor resisting public officer. He was issued no bond, and his first appearance was set for September 15, 2025, in Randolph County District Court.
