On July 24, 2025, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop on Pineview Ave., Thomasville. Upon preparing to exit the patrol vehicle to make contact with the driver, the subject, later identified as Ryan Derek Shipwash, fled on the motorcycle onto a path through a wooded area.
Additional deputies arrived to check the area as others began walking the path, where they found the motorcycle lying on its side. During a search of the motorcycle for seizure, narcotics and paraphernalia were found.
Warrants were sought for Shipwash for felony possession of methamphetamine, felony possession of heroin, misdemeanor flee to elude with motor vehicle, misdemeanor driving while license revoked – non impaired revoked, misdemeanor fictitious/altered title/registration card/tag, misdemanor drive/allow motor vehicle no registration, misdemeanor operate vehicle no insurance, misdemeanor no motorcycle endorsement, exceeding posted speed, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. The magistrate found probable cause to issue a warrant for arrest.
On August 23, 2025, Shipwash was located in Davidson County, arrested, and transported to the Davidson County Detention Center, where he was served his warrant and received no bond. A court date was set for September 19, 2025, in Randolph County District Court.
