On August 27, 2025, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Lions Rest Road, Asheboro, in reference to what was reported as a person armed with a knife. Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with all parties involved and was able to confirm that nobody was assaulted and that only a verbal argument had taken place. However, it was discovered that Brent William Hoyt was wanted out of Ohio for multiple charges, and Ohio wished to extradite him. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where he was brought before the magistrate and charged as a fugitive from justice. He was held without bond pending an extradition hearing. An extradition hearing is scheduled for August 27, 2025, in Randolph County District Court.
