On July 28, 2025, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported assault on Hoover Hill Rd., Trinity. Upon arrival, deputies located the victim with visible injuries and the assailant, who was identified as Christopher Neil Grimmett. It was discovered that Grimmett had an outstanding order for arrest out of Guilford County. He was arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where he was served his outstanding process and received a $20,000 secured bond. The magistrate found probable cause for misdemeanor assault on a female and issued no bond due to the charges being domestic in nature.
During the booking process, Detention Officers located methamphetamine in Grimmett’s belongings. He was taken back before the magistrate, who found probable cause for felony possession of a controlled substance on jail premises. He received no bond and a court date of July 29, 2025, in Randolph County District Court.
