On June 12, 2025, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office arrived at Raymond Gray Ln, Archdale, in response to an assault that had taken place in the area of Greendale Rd., Archdale. Upon their arrival, the victim shared details of the incident and exhibited visible injuries, prompting a request for EMS. EMS assessed the situation and concluded that the victim required transportation to a nearby hospital for further evaluation.
Charges were sought against John Douglas Canoy, Jr., for felony assault inflicting serious injury, misdemeanor assault on a female, misdemeanor injury to personal property, and misdemeanor interfere with emergency communication. The magistrate found probable cause to issue a warrant for arrest.
On June 18, 2025, the Criminal Apprehension Team located Canoy, arrested him, and transported him to the Randolph County Detention Center. He was served the warrant and issued no bond. A first appearance was scheduled for June 20, 2025, in Randolph County District Court.
