On June 10, 2025, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on Old Thomasville Rd., Archdale. During a subsequent search, the driver, Mitchell Leon Cannon, was found to be in possession of an illegal substance and paraphernalia, and a concealed firearm was located in the vehicle. Cannon does not have a concealed carry permit and failed to advise deputies of the firearm before being taken into custody. He was transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where the magistrate found probable cause for felony possession of cocaine, misdemeanor carry concealed gun, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving while license revoked - impaired revoked. He was issued a $2,000 secured bond. A first appearance was set for June 11, 2025, in Randolph County District Court.
