On April 1, 2025, while the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office was investigating a call regarding a suspicious vehicle on Beckerdite Rd., Sophia, a male, who appeared impaired, staggered onto the property. During the encounter, the male, identified as Brian Melvin Dennis, became aggressive towards deputies and was taken into custody.
During a subsequent search, methamphetamine was located. Dennis was arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where the magistrate found probable cause for felony possession of methamphetamine, misdemeanor disorderly, and misdemeanor assault on a government official. No bond was given due to Mr. Dennis being on pretrial release. A first appearance was set for April 2, 2025, in Randolph County District Court.
