On March 12, 2025, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on I-73 near mile marker 85, Randleman. Upon approach, the odor of marijuana was emitting from the vehicle. During a subsequent search, illegal substances and paraphernalia were located. The driver was identified as John Rodney Hunsucker and the passenger was identified as Natasha Michelle Kennedy.
Hunsucker and Kennedy were arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where the magistrate found probable cause for charges as follows:
Kennedy: felony possession of methamphetamine, felony possession of heroin, felony possession of cocaine, misdemeanor simple possession of schedule III controlled substance, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia She was issued a $5,000 bond.
Hunsucker: misdemeanor simple possession of schedule IV, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, and multiple Chapter 20 traffic violations. He was also served with his outstanding felony warrant for Interfere with Electronic Monitoring Device out of Guilford County and his probation violations. He was given a $3,000 secured bond.
A first appearance was set for both for March 13, 2025, in Randolph County District Court.
