On February 2, 2025, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of I-73 around Pineview St., Asheboro, in reference to a female was allegedly being kept in a vehicle against her will. Upon initiating a traffic stop along I-73 near Albemarle Rd., the vehicle initially pulled over and then proceeded to get back onto the highway and a pursuit began south on I-73 going towards Montgomery County. Montgomery County Sheriff's Office assisted in the pursuit upon entry into their jurisdiction. The vehicle cut across the median continuing to travel northbound in the southbound lane. Shortly after, the driver went off the roadway resulting in the vehicle entering a deep ditch causing the vehicle to overturn and come to rest on its driver's side. Deputies approached the vehicle and assisted the female out. She was identified as Megan Jean Nichole Baker. The driver was identified as Ronnie R. Faulkner, II. The fire department later arrived on scene and utilized the jaws of life to extract the male entrapped in the vehicle. EMS arrived and evaluated both patients. Both were transported to Moore Regional Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.
During a subsequent search, methamphetamine was located.
Charges were sought on Faulkner and Baker. The magistrate found probable cause for the following:
• Faulkner: felony first-degree kidnapping, felony flee/elude arrest w/ motor vehicle, felony possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver methamphetamine, misdemeanor give/lend/borrow license plate, misdemeanor reckless driving wanton/disregard, misdemeanor driving while license revoked -impaired revocation, misdemeanor speeding, and driving left of center.
• Baker: felony possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver methamphetamine.
On February 4, 2025, Baker was located, arrested, and transported to the Moore County Detention Center where she was served her warrant and issued a $30,000 secure bond. A court date was set for February 18, 2025, in Randolph County District Court.
On February 15, 2025, Faulkner was located in Wake County, arrested, and transported to the Wake County Detention Center where he was served his warrant and issued no bond. A first appearance was set for March 14, 2025, in Randolph County District Court.
