*UPDATE*
Detectives discovered that the female initially arrested had provided the false name of Regana Denise Hawkins during her arrest, and her actual identity was Courtney Alicia McDaniel. McDaniel was a probation absconder out of Rowan County and had two active orders for arrest for felony probation violation. While still confined, McDaniel was served with her probation violations and received a $15,000 secured bond.
Detectives also went before the magistrate and obtained a warrant for arrest for felony possession of a stolen motor vehicle and felony identity theft against McDaniel. She was served with these charges and received an additional $5,000 secured bond with a court date scheduled for January 29, 2025, in Randolph County District Court.

On January 23, 2025, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Interdiction Team Highway Unit conducted a traffic stop on I-85 in Trinity. After further investigation, it was determined that the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Burlington, NC on January 22, 2025. The driver was identified as Regana Denise Hawkins. She was arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where the magistrate found probable cause for the charge of felony possession of a stolen vehicle. She was issued a $1,000 secured bond and a first appearance was set for January 24, 2025, in Randolph County District Court.
