On November 26, 2024, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Valewood Dr., Asheboro, in reference to a vehicle theft. The investigation revealed that Bonnie Lorene Forrest, who is known by the victims, had unlawfully entered their residence, taken the keys to a vehicle, and subsequently drove off with it. As a result, charges were sought against Forrest for felony breaking and entering, felony larceny after break/enter, and felony larceny of a motor vehicle. The magistrate found probable cause and issued a warrant.
Later in the day, the victims reported that the vehicle had been returned and deputies responded. Upon their arrival, Forrest was found on the property, and her wallet, containing her identification, was located inside the vehicle. She was arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where she was served the active warrant, as well as felony possession of a stolen motor vehicle and resisting a public officer. She was issued a $12,000 total secured bond and a first appearance was set for November 27, 2024, in Randolph County District Court.
