On October 9, 2024, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a stolen vehicle from the Gallimore Town Rd. area in Trinity.
On October 10, 2024, the Criminal Interdiction Team Urban Unit Detectives gathered evidence that the vehicle had already been scrapped by Neil Palmer Berg, Jr. and Scotty Dean Gardner. Charges were sought for felony larceny of motor vehicle and felony obtain property by false pretense against both subjects. The magistrate found probable cause for the charges and a warrant was issued for each.
On October 17, 2024, Detectives located and arrested Berg and Gardner. They were transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where they were served their warrants. The magistrate issued a $5,000 unsecured bond for both individuals and a first appearance was set for October 21, 2024, in Randolph County District Court.
