On September 16, 2024, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Julian Airport Rd., Liberty, the site of the Toyota plant, regarding a bomb threat incident.
Following an investigation by the Criminal Investigations Division, charges were sought against Michael John Poirier of Elon, NC, for felony false bomb report.
Poirier was arrested at his residence and transported to Randolph County Detention Center where he was served his warrant and issued a $30,000 secured bond. A first appearance was set for September 17, 2024, in Randolph County District Court.
