On August 2, 2024, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office received a report regarding fraud by Junior James Johnson at an area business located on US Hwy 64, Asheboro on July 22, 2024. Johnson arrived at the place of business and sold them a firearm he had in his possession. On July 30, 2024, Chatham County Sheriff’s Office seized the firearm, which had been reported stolen in their county after the transaction was conducted.
Following the investigation, charges were sought on Johnson in Randolph County for felony possession of a stolen firearm and obtaining property by false pretense. The magistrate found probable cause to issue a warrant for arrest.
On September 5, 2024, Johnson was located and apprehended by the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Apprehension Team near Dawson St. in Ramseur, and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where he was served the warrant. The magistrate issued a No Bond and set the next court date for September 6, 2024, in Randolph County District Court.
